Menlo Park, San Mateo County
Two Irish ranchers named their property Menlo Park in the 1850s, after their home village in County Galway, and the railroad adopted the name for a station that has been in use since 1867. At SRI International, a research institute near downtown, the computer mouse was invented and the first message on the network that became the internet was received in 1969.
